Chillicothe Gazette Endorses Sherrod’s Reelection, Calling Him A “Seasoned And Well-Reasoned Public Servant,” Mandel A Politician Who “Will Contribute To More Divisiveness And Rancor”
Sherrod Brown has earned his eighteenth endorsement for the cycle, from the Chillicothe Gazette, which lauded Sherrod’s efforts to fight for southern Ohio, calling him a “seasoned and well-reasoned public servant” and forecasting that Josh Mandel, if elected, would “contribute to more divisiveness and rancor.”
The Gazette calls Josh Mandel’s false attacks on Sherrod’s record of fighting for the middle class “contrived and forced,” lauding his efforts to fight for southern Ohio that have produced tangible results:
“Brown’s credibility in southern Ohio is strong. He’s been at the forefront of pushing the Energy Department on continued money for the cleanup at the former bomb making site in Piketon, as well as pushing for a future use for the site. He’s worked with fellow Sen. Rob Portman on the issue and has also worked with Horizon on the broadband program and local officials on post office closures, drug take-back days and been out in front on many veterans issues, including assistance for the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The Gazette continues, contrasting Sherrod’s experience as a steadfast fighter for southern Ohio with Josh Mandel’s “demeanor and inexperience.”
“The biggest advantage for Brown over Mandel is readiness. While Brown is a seasoned and well-reasoned public servant, Mandel’s demeanor and inexperience give us doubts about his ability to work inside the complex political climate of Washington. While he claims he will work as an outsider to change Washington, Mandel’s attitude makes us believe he will contribute to more divisiveness and rancor.
“Brown’s the choice to make a true difference for all of Ohio, and particularly southern Ohio.”
