COLUMBUS, OH – Ahead of tomorrow’s anniversary of the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act being signed into law, Sherrod and Danielle Robinson released the following statements.
Sherrod named the PACT Act after Ohioan Heath Robinson who passed away after being exposed to burn pits during his service and continues to connect Ohio servicemembers and veterans with healthcare and benefits under the law. More than 32,000 Ohio veterans exposed to toxic burn pits have already been connected with healthcare and benefits through Sherrod’s PACT Act.
“I will always fight for Ohio’s veterans, servicemembers and their families like they bravely fought for all of us,” said Sherrod. “Our work isn’t over and I am honored to have the support of Ohio’s veterans and servicemembers across our state to continue to honor their service.”
“We reached out to Sherrod Brown after my husband Heath was diagnosed with cancer from exposure to toxic burn pits in Iraq and he immediately jumped into action,” said Danielle Robinson, Heath’s wife. “Sherrod wrote legislation and worked with Republicans and Democrats to fulfill Heath’s dying wish of ensuring veterans can receive healthcare and benefits without red tape getting in the way – like it did for Heath. Sherrod honored Heath and his service, and now I am honored to support Sherrod’s reelection.”
On Monday, the “Veterans and Servicemembers for Sherrod” coalition will kick off a statewide tour featuring Ohio veterans, servicemembers, and military families to discuss Sherrod’s work fighting for Ohio veterans – including the PACT Act.
