Chip in $20 to support Sherrod Brown's Campaign

Friends of Sherrod Brown Campaign Launches “AAPI for Sherrod” Coalition

COLUMBUS, OH – Today, the Friends of Sherrod Brown campaign launched “Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) for Sherrod,” a coalition to highlight Sherrod’s record honoring the AAPI community, expanding affordable care for Ohio families and caregivers, standing up to hate and discrimination, and fighting to make sure hard work pays off for all Ohioans – no matter who you are, where you live, or what you look like.

“AAPI Ohioans know I will always stand by their side, from cutting red tape for small businesses, to expanding paid family leave and supporting caregivers. Our state is stronger when we uplift every community, and I am proud to stand side-by-side with our AAPI communities in our fight to make sure hard work pays off for all Ohioans,” said Senator Sherrod Brown.

“AAPI for Sherrod” co-chairs Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik, State Representative Anita Somani, Reynoldsburg City Councilman Bhuwan Pyakurel, Vice Mayor of Oxford Chantel Raghu, and Cleveland attorney Margaret Wong, cited Sherrod’s record championing Ohio’s AAPI communities.

ASIAN AMERICAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDERS (AAPI) FOR SHERROD CO-CHAIRS

Sherrod has been a steadfast champion for the AAPI community in Ohio by expanding access to high-quality, affordable healthcare, advancing voter rights, and ensuring that AAPI communities are honored and protected in Ohio,” said Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval.  “Sherrod will work with anyone when it’s right and stand up to anyone who gets in the way, because when you love your country, you fight for the people who make it work.”

“Sherrod has always stood strong with Ohio’s AAPI community, from making sure hard work pays off like it should to investing in small businesses and making sure our communities have the resources they need to get ahead. I’m proud to stand with Sherrod, because Sherrod has always stood strong with us,” said Akron Mayor Shammas Malik.

“Sherrod has a proven track record looking out for all Ohioans,” said Ohio State Representative Dr. Anita Somani. “From supporting a woman’s right to make her own medical decisions to leading legislation to make sure working Ohioans can take care of their sick loved ones, Senator Brown has shown he is always fighting for us. Ohio’s AAPI community deserves a Senator who will represent us and fight on our behalf, that’s why I’m honored to support Senator Sherrod Brown’s reelection.”

“Sherrod’s dedication to our communities goes beyond passing laws – he stands up for what is right. Ohioans can count on Sherrod to always stand up for them, no matter who they are, or what they look like,” said Reynoldsburg City Councilman Bhuwan Pyakurel.

“Sherrod understands that discrimination has no place in our country, yet many Ohioans still face barriers to reaching the middle class and seeing their hard work go unrewarded. Whether it’s standing up to Wall Street or fighting against housing discrimination, Ohio’s AAPI communities know we have a true champion in Sherrod Brown,” said Vice Mayor of Oxford Chantel Raghu.

“Sherrod is dedicated to ensuring that every Ohioan can fully participate in our democracy. He fights to protect our voting rights and prevent barriers to the ballot box. Sherrod is committed to making sure every voice is heard and our democratic rights are upheld, no matter where you live or who you are,” said Cleveland attorney Margaret Wong.
