CINCINNATI, OH – Today, Mayor Aftab Pureval, Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju and Ohio abortion storyteller Katie May hosted a press conference in Cincinnati to discuss Bernie Moreno’s dangerous support for a national abortion ban.
While Sherrod stands with the majority of Ohioans who believe women’s healthcare decisions should be between them and their doctors, his opponent Bernie Moreno supports overturning the will of Ohioans with a national abortion ban and has said he’s “100% pro-life with no exceptions.” Moreno opposed birth control protections and called IVF a “non-issue.” Moreno even went so far as to recently claim the majority of Ohioans “cheat[ed]” to enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution last year.
“With Bernie Moreno on the ballot, abortion rights are at risk again in Ohio this November,” said Mayor Aftab Pureval. “I urge my fellow Ohioans to show up in overwhelming numbers – just like we did last year – on November 5th and vote for Sherrod to protect Ohioans’ fundamental freedoms.”
“Our fight for abortion rights in Ohio and across the nation is far from over,” said President of Reproductive Freedom for All Mini Timmaraju. “Bernie Moreno is an anti-abortion extremist who, if elected, would vote for a national abortion ban. But Ohioans are not going to let that happen. They are mobilizing and fired up to reelect Senator Sherrod Brown and send Bernie Moreno packing.”
“Personal decisions about reproductive healthcare, birth control, IVF treatments and so much more should be mine, not the government’s, to make. Sherrod Brown understands that and has a proven record fighting for Ohio women and our reproductive rights,” said Katie May. “While Sherrod fights for abortion rights, Bernie Moreno has made it clear he thinks he should make women’s personal healthcare decisions for us and would support a national abortion ban.”

Sherrod has always fought for a woman’s right to make their own healthcare decisions:
- Sherrod supported the November Issue 1 campaign to enshrine abortion rights in the Ohio Constitution.
- Sherrod introduced the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023 to restore reproductive health care across the country.
- Sherrod supported the Right to IVF Act to protect access to fertility treatments, including in-vitro fertilization, and the Right to Contraception Act to guarantee protections for birth control.
- Sherrod introduced the Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act of 2022 to make sure women are not punished for traveling to receive abortion care.
While Sherrod fights for Ohio women, Bernie Moreno said he would overturn the will of Ohioans by voting for a national abortion ban and opposes all exceptions:
