Car dealer Bernie Moreno got caught lying to Ohioans again – this time for spending millions to open a new car dealership despite repeatedly telling Ohioans he sold off all his businesses to be “completely free of any conflicts of interest.”

WCMH: “A new controversy for Republican Senate candidate and former car dealer Bernie Moreno, who appears to also be a future car dealer.”
As a car dealer, Moreno repeatedly mistreated his employees and was sued at least 50 times. In one case, Moreno destroyed evidence he was legally required to keep in order to get out of paying his employees the overtime they had earned. Moreno was punished by the judge in the case and found liable for wage theft by a jury. And when he got caught, Moreno lied over and over about the case.
WKYC: “Moreno was ultimately ordered to pay more than $400,000 to his employees after having been found liable for stolen overtime wages and went on to settle over a dozen similar lawsuits…”
As a car dealer, Moreno sold Chinese-made cars, which contributed to “Ohio jobs being shipped overseas” and Ohio jobs being taken “away from Americans,” and lied about it on the campaign trail.
Spectrum News: “Although Moreno tells voters he refused to sell the Chinese-made SUVs, his auto dealership posted a customer testimonial and advertisements online that tell a different story… Spectrum News found multiple social media posts of the vehicle being promoted by Moreno’s dealership from 2014 to 2019.”
While Moreno lies on the campaign trail that he “built his car dealer empire all on his own,” Moreno received “much-needed handout[s],” “special favors,” and “financial assistance” throughout his career and even “leveraged his family connections” and the “Moreno Family cash reserves” to enrich himself.
