Jon Husted Blocks Efforts to Crack Down on Insurance Companies Denying Ohioans’ Health Care

Husted Has Taken Nearly $700,000 From Health Insurance Companies Raising Rates in Ohio

COLUMBUS, OH – After voting nine times against lowering health care costs for Ohio families, Jon Husted voted against two bipartisan amendments that would prevent insurance companies from denying or delaying needed care.

“Jon Husted is once again choosing the insurance companies over the needs of Ohioans. Why? Because he’s taken nearly $700,000 from the insurance companies who are raising Ohio’s insurance premiums,” said Sherrod Brown. “As families struggle with soaring costs, Jon Husted is only concerned with catering to his special interest friends. Ohioans deserve a senator who will lower costs. That’s why, in the Senate, I’ll fine insurance companies for wrongly denying claims and make it illegal for drug companies to charge more in America than they do overseas for the same medicine.”

Jon Husted has refused to lower Ohioans’ health care costs at every turn:

•In the Senate, Husted has voted nine times to increase health care premiums on Ohio families — all to help pay for the largest tax cut for billionaires in history.

•Husted took nearly $700,000 from insurance companies and executives that are directly raising rates on Ohioans.

•As Husted actively makes life harder for Ohio families, he says that struggling Ohioans aren’t “experienced at navigating the real world,” that they should  “earn more” money, and calling their work ethic “broken.
