Mansfield News Journal: Mansfield veteran receives ribbon 42 years later

Mansfield native Larry Moore, a Vietnam War veteran, received an honor Monday that was 42 years overdue.

Moore was presented with the Combat Action Ribbon in a ceremony Monday at the Summit County Veterans Service Commission, where Moore is director.

Moore, who was head of the Richland County Veterans Commission before taking the job in Akron, received the honor from another Mansfield native, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio.

“Ohio’s veterans — like Larry Moore — made invaluable contributions to our fight for worldwide peace and democracy. Our state’s current and former servicemembers have answered the call to action without delay throughout our nation’s history,” Brown said. “As a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, one of the most rewarding aspects of my job is fighting for Ohio’s veterans by ensuring that they receive the benefits they so richly deserve.”
