A Pleasant High School student recently was accepted into the Air Force Academy.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, recently announced the U.S. Air Force Academy has extended an offer of appointment to Pleasant senior Malachi Sparling. Brown nominated the Marion resident for the academy.

“Ohio schools are educating the young people who will become the next generation of military leaders. I am proud that Malachi has been offered the opportunity to attend one of our nation’s most prestigious institutions,” Brown said in a news release. “Mr. Sparling’s family and the entire Marion community should be proud of this dynamic young man, who embodies the integrity and courage needed to represent well and uphold the values of our nation.”
