It’s Time to Act to Combat the Opioid Crisis
The Commission to Combat Drug Abuse and the Opioid Crisis has come out with recommendations for quick action.
They include:
- Removing the cap on the number of beds at substance abuse facilities that can be covered by Medicaid.
- Increasing access to medication-assisted treatment.
- Developing better fentanyl detection devices for law enforcement.
- Stopping the flow of synthetic opioids through the U.S. Postal Service.
Sherrod has worked on legislation addressing these recommendations before — and he is urging his colleagues in Congress to act the minute they get back to Washington.
