U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is pushing for a change in American healthcare that would afford family leave as part of health insurance: providing sick leave independent of an employer.

“So, so many Americans—unlike any other rich country in the world—have no family leave policy,” Brown said. “If you have a baby and your employer doesn’t offer family leave, and many employers don’t, you either lose your job or you talk your employer back into rehiring you.”
