How we’re making progress in improving public transit:
Many hardworking Ohioans rely on public transit to get to work, home, and everywhere in between. Sherrod understands this, which is why in 2015, he helped secure funding for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Buses and Bus Facilities competitive grant program. The program makes federal resources available to replace, improve, and purchase buses, and to construct or update bus-related facilities.
This week, through this program, the Department of Transportation awarded the Dayton Regional Transportation Authority more than $2 million to replace the city’s old diesel buses. This step will improve the public transit system’s reliability in the area, while making it easier for Dayton residents to get wherever they need to go.
