Student for Sherrod – Meet Garrett
Name: Garrett S.
School: The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law
What does college affordability mean to you? College affordability means being able to climb into the middle class.
What do you see as the biggest issues students face right now? A lot of students—even those who aren’t politically active—are frustrated with the status quo. College affordability is a major issue: Plenty of people are qualified to go to college but don’t get the chance because they can’t afford it. Having Pell Grants, federal scholarships for students—that’s important to make college affordable, because in our world today, having that degree is so valuable.
Beyond that, there’s a question as to whether or not the jobs available to us when we graduate will still allow us to provide for a family, afford a home, or send our kids to college. Just being able to afford housing, being able to have a job that you’re interested in and that has a pension or retirement plan—that’s important to me.
Why are you excited to vote for Sherrod this fall? Sherrod Brown is fighting for the working men and women. He’s fighting for a fair, just society.
