Treasury Secretary Jack Lew wrote in a letter to Congress: “…Treasury is likely to exhaust its extraordinary measures on or about Thursday, November 5.”
Tea Party Republicans have been playing games with the debt ceiling for years. They’ve been threatening to default on our obligations, and risk another economic spiral, in order to pressure Democrats to pass radical agenda items.
We haven’t let them get away with it yet. And we’re not going to start now.
