Tell Congress: Stop Corporations From Dodging Their Tax Bills

You can’t leave a restaurant without paying the check. Corporations should play by the same rules.

Right now, companies are using shady accounting tricks to dodge their U.S. tax bills. They shift their headquarters to countries with lower corporate tax rates, leaving their U.S. obligations behind. It’s called “tax inversion” — and more and more companies are taking advantage of it.

Sherrod has a plan to stop multinational corporations from skipping out on their check — “pay what you owe before you go.” It would require corporations to pay their deferred U.S. taxes before they reincorporate elsewhere.

Urge Congress to take this step and make corporations pay their bills.
