Workers and their employers negotiated in good faith to secure a dignified retirement. They left money on the table in exchange for the security and stability of a defined benefit pension plan.

But in 2008 Wall Street crashed our economy. The American people came to their rescue, but then Wall Street turned around and stole the pensions of over 60,000 Ohioans.

This isn’t some abstract issue. These are truck drivers, miners, machinists, musicians, bakers, and confectioners whose retirements are at risk of being upended due to Wall Street’s games with our economy.

The men and women who worked their entire lives for the promise of a secure retirement deserve what they worked for. I am proud to stand with the workers fighting for the pensions they earned.
