Trump has nominated Scott Gottlieb, a man with deep tires to the pharmaceutical industry, to head the FDA. This is a man who once tried to push more opioids to market — the exact opposite of what we need.
This goes beyond politics. Opioids are killing people and hollowing out cities and towns across the country. It is an insidious problem that will require relentless attention — and so far, Trump’s moves are only going to make things worse.
