Tell Congress to protect American workers -- no fast track!
Too often, free trade agreements are a feast for corporate interests, with working Americans left to pick at the scraps.
One study found that NAFTA displaced nearly 700,000 American jobs — including 415,000 lost jobs in the manufacturing sector. The implementation of CAFTA in the mid-2000s led to more than 50,000 American workers losing their jobs. And American-made exports actually decreased after the onset of a free trade agreement with South Korea.
This is not how you rebuild America’s middle class. The only way to protect American workers is to make sure that their voices can be heard — and the only way to do that is to allow senators to amend proposed trade agreements.
We, the undersigned, call upon Congress to put American workers first in free-trade agreements.
