Back in 1963, before Medicare became law, the Social Security Administration published a report that said:
“Many aged persons never recover from the economic effects of a single hospital episode… even for the insured there is no present guarantee against dependency in old age caused by catastrophic medical expenses.”
Seniors today don’t have to live with that same fear. For 50 years, Medicare has provided security for seniors and the families that care for them. We need to protect that same security for future generations.
