$1 million in new funding to help watershed
Wapakoneta Daily News – ST. MARYS — Conservation efforts around Grand Lake St. Marys received a boost Tuesday.
In a news release, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced $1 million in new funding is now available to farmers in the watershed to apply conservation measures to their land. The funding is the second time this year $1 million has been released to help improve the watershed around Grand Lake St. Marys.
“The health of Grand Lake St. Marys is at risk and today’s announcement of clean-up funds is welcome news for western Ohio,” Brown said in the news release. “These new federal dollars will build upon our long-term strategy of reducing run-off and improving water quality. Hundreds of thousands of Ohioans rely upon Grand Lake St. Marys for recreation, for drinking water and for their jobs — its clean-up is a priority and
