Airport opens new runway
Akron Beacon Journal – The Akron-Canton Airport took off toward its future on Thursday with the commissioning of a new and improved runway.
The extension of the runway called ''5/23'' from 7,600 feet to 8,204 feet means the airport can accommodate nonstop flights to destinations such as the West Coast, Cancun and the Caribbean, said Airport President and Chief Executive Officer Rick McQueen.
