Brown backs one-year unemployment benefits extension
Columbus Dispatch – Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, is one of more than two dozen Senate Democrats who have signed on to a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sen. Max Baucus, D-Montana, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, urging a one-year extension of unemployment benefits.
The House Nov. 18 rejected a bill extending benefits for three months. With benefits expiring today for hundreds of thousands of people nationwide, the Senate and House could vote on new extension proposals this week.
