Brown: Federal monies for 1,200 displaced workers, including Hugo Boss workers

WKYC – WASHINGTON D.C. — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced Wednesday that new federal funds will provide assistance to 1,200 displaced manufacturing workers in Cuyahoga, Hamilton, Lorain and Mahoning counties.

Brown said that the U.S. Department of Labor has approved Trade Adjustment Assistance benefits for more than 1,200 workers who were laid off due to a downturn in the auto industry.

The assistance will be available for Cleveland Hugo Boss workers in Cuyahoga County; Lordstown Seating Systems workers in Mahoning County; Stein, Inc. workers in Lorain County; and Avon Products workers in Hamilton County.

Brown did not say what specific amount the average worker would be entitled to receive.

"Losing a job can devastate families and affect whole communities," Brown said. "These funds will help ensure that these displaced workers have the financial support and training opportunities to get a fresh start."
