Brown gets plum committee assignment
Cincinnati Enquirer – Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown announced today that he’s landed a windfall committee assignment for Ohio. He’ll be getting a seat on the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee.
The seat became open when longtime Sen. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., died earlier this month. Brown is the 11th Ohioan to serve on the important committee that decides each year how to spend the federal budget. Sen. George Voinovich currently serves on the committee, but he’s retiring at the end of the year. Before him, former Sen. Mike DeWine of Cedarville served on the panel.
