Brown pushing extension of clean energy tax credits
WTAM – (Columbus) – A tax credit passed through the Recovery Act has already provided $125 million to help Ohio manufacturing companies produce components for clean energy.
Funding for the program is ready to expire. Monday Senator Sherrod Brown was talking with a round-table of manufacturers that have benefited from the program as he pushes for an extension.
"We have already benefited more than just about any other state on increase in alternative energy jobs. We're getting killed on everything else, understandably, but we're fighting back on a lot of these kinds of jobs," Brown said.
One example Brown highlighted was Cardinal Fasteners in Bedford Heights. The company, which makes large bolts for wind turbines, has increased its workforce by 20% thanks to the tax credits. Two solar panel manufacturing companies in Toledo have also increased their workforce.
