Brown, Strickland Push Jobs Legislation

Business Journal Daily – YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — As debate in the U.S. Senate continues on the Small Business Jobs Act, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and Gov. Ted Strickland renewed their call for passage of the legislation, which they said would help Ohio small businesses expand operations and create new jobs.

Joined by William Gaskin, president of the Precision Metalforming Association, Brown, D-Ohio, and the state's Democratic governor, outlined their support for the legislation during a conference call with reporters Thursday.

"Small and medium sized manufacturers continue to bear the brunt of the financial crisis – trapped between their customers and creditors,” Gaskin said. "We need this bill passed now because traditional lenders have either drastically reduced lines of credit or denied loans to companies that are healthy or temporarily impaired due to the global economic crisis."
