Brown supported payment to elderly
Columbus Dispatch – I was glad to see that Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio recently voted in favor of a one-time $250 payment to Social Security recipients who, for the second year in a row, have been denied a cost-of-living adjustment by an outdated federal inflation measurement (“Congress rejects Social Security bonus,” Dispatch article, Thursday). Unfortunately, Senate Republicans used parliamentary tactics to block the bill from passing.
At a time when all you hear out of Washington is more tax cuts for those with financial security, it was good to see Brown remember that seniors back here in Ohio are struggling to put food on the table and heat their home in this cold winter.
