Brown touts job growth: Senator’s policies, initiatives push for small business expansion

The Morning Journal – LORAIN — Manufacturers, educators and the government can work together to help bring new jobs to Ohio, Sen. Sherrod Brown said.

Previewing President Obama's visit, Brown spoke about ways Ohio businesses can expand and possibly be part of new green energy manufacturing and production.

The Avon Democrat joined Lorain County Community College President Roy Church and U.S. Steel Chief Operating Officer John Goodish in a conference call to explain five initiatives to help business. They said they hope the president will learn more about Lorain County's role as a center of production in Ohio, a long-time manufacturing state.

"Lorain County has seen its share of economic challenges, but its workers, businesses and community organizations have addressed them head-on with innovative solutions," Brown said. "Our top priority is creating jobs, and I'm glad President Obama is bringing his Main Street tour to Ohio.

"For decades, our state has been home to large-scale manufacturers and cutting-edge entrepreneurs," Brown said. "With the right priorities in Washington, we can create new jobs by helping small businesses expand operations and manufacturers retool for the clean energy economy."
