Brown Wants to Play Scrooge to GOP Grinch
Youngstown Business Journal – YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — If Republicans are determined to be the Grinch who stole Christmas from unemployed workers by not extending jobless benefits, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown is willing to be Ebenezer Scrooge and insist the Senate work Christmas and through the holidays until they do.
The most recent extension of jobless benefits expiring at midnight – impacting more than 4,000 unemployed workers in the Mahoning Valley and as many as 108,000 statewide. In a conference call Tuesday, Brown, D-Ohio, stressed to reporters that extending the benefits helps not just unemployed workers but the economy as a whole.
