Cleveland: Sen. Brown introducing $75 billion jobs bill
WKYC – CLEVELAND — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) believes the federal government should come to the aid of struggling cities and school systems.
He announced here today that he is sponsoring the Local Jobs for America Act.
The bill would spend $75 billion over two years to help local communities and school systems stop layoffs and call back workers and teachers who already lost their jobs.
"We're spending money to keep teachers in the classroom. We're spending money to keep police on the job," Brown said.
The private economy is recovering but cities and school systems are still watching revenues decline, according to Brown.
