Fire department granted $100,000
Hudson Hub Times – Hudson — Firefighters in Hudson will soon receive almost $100,000 to help bolster their own fire protection, adding a sprinkler and updating the fire alarm system at the safety building.
Seven Ohio fire departments, including Hudson, will be receiving more than $555,000 as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.
According to the April 7 announcement from U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, the Hudson Fire Department will receive $99,320.
"We are pleased to be notified of the award," Hudson Fire Chief Bob Carter said April 9.
The department will use it for "modifications to the safety center which houses our fire and emergency equipment and personnel," he said.
