Jobs the issue, so now what?
The Marietta Times – With Washington County's jobless rate slightly lower than last year but nearly double what it was back in 2008, it's no wonder the need for jobs keeps rising to the top of the list of issues facing southeast Ohio and all of Appalachia.
The theme of jobs was referred to often this week during a two-day conference of COAD, the Corporation for Ohio Appalachia Development, including remarks by Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown. Brown, D-Ohio, promised to do what he could for the area as the late Sen. Robert Byrd's replacement on the appropriations committee. We hope he backs up the promise with action.
