Keys to recovery outlined by Brown during local visit
Springfield News-Sun – SPRINGFIELD — For Clark County and Ohio to rebound from the recent economic downturn, there needs to be vibrant agriculture, vibrant manufacturing and a vibrant transportation system, according to U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown.
“The most important thing we can do is rebuild the manufacturing base in the country. … It includes rebuilding infrastructure,” Brown said.
Local leaders had the opportunity to talk directly with the senator about everything from education to manufacturing Monday, May 10, at a roundtable hosted by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
With regard to statewide manufacturing, Brown said even though there have been a number of losses, there is strong potential.
He is currently working to create a federal revolving loan program for manufacturing companies looking to make the transition from traditional industries, such as automotive, to clean energy.
