Lawmakers And Business Leaders Talk Steel
WYTV – U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan and Sen. Sherrod Brown told officials during a press conference Thursday at Wheatland Tube's Warren facility that trade enforcement means jobs.
Brown said local manufacturers like Wheatland Tube and V&M Star Steel have been faced with a flood of Chinese products and unfair subsidies.
"People want to do business here," Ryan said.
Last month, a U.S. International Trade Commission ruling said that a surge of subsidized Chinese steel is a threat to the U.S. industry and that the U.S. can now collect duties up to 16-percent on Chinese-made steel pipe.
