Letter to the Editor: Brown is to be commended for health care reform work
Columbus Local News – To the Editor:
As the Senate wraps up debate on health care reform, Ohioans should feel fortunate to have the leadership of Sen. Sherrod Brown, who is a critical voice in the effort to expand access to quality, affordable health care to all Americans. Throughout this monumental effort to overcome the power of special interests, Sen. Brown has stayed focused on the goal of improving the health of Americans.
He has been a leading champion of the public option as a way to lower health care costs. But he also sees the public option as a means to an end, not the end itself. That's why he fought to preserve the public option while exploring alternatives, like expanding Medicare to people aged 55-64. At the same time, he's working to ensure adequate subsidies to assist people with moderate incomes with affording coverage.
