The Morning Journal – LORAIN — A $48,000 grant awarded to the Lorain Fire Department in February will now be put to good use.

The grant, which is from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, was recently used to purchase new life-saving equipment, comprised of tools used to pry and cut open vehicles to rescue those trapped inside, Lorain fire Capt. Tom Baker said.
