New Site Open for Veterans Service Center

The Intelligencer – The new site of the Belmont County Veterans Service Center was celebrated this week.

Representatives of veterans' organizations from across Belmont County were on hand for an open house, along with village and county officials and representatives from the offices of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and U.S. Rep. Zack Space, both D-Ohio. The center moved to the village of Bellaire earlier this year.

In January, Belmont County commissioners purchased the former Allison Mills Recreation Center at 3326 Belmont St., Bellaire. Prior to that, the county rented space in St. Clairsville for its veterans' service office.

The move reportedly will offer more privacy for veterans seeking services, and the new location is handicap accessible and will make it possible to provide more services for veterans.
