Obama to ‘Connect the Dots’ at V&M Star
Business Journal Daily – YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — V&M Star's $650 million expansion in the Mahoning Valley would not have taken place without federal economic stimulus funds, Gov. Ted Strickland and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan asserted on the eve of President Barack Obama's visit today.
Obama, who will speak to workers at V&M's existing Youngstown plant on jobs and the economy, will "connect the dots" between the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the efforts of state and local officials to bring about projects such as the soon-to-begin construction of company's new mill, said Jared Bernstein, chief economist to Vice President Joe Biden.
Bernstein joined Strickland, Ryan and U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown on a call in advance of the president's visit.
