Obama to stress benefit of stimulus
Warren Tribune Chronicle – President Barack Obama is expected to stress the importance of the federal economic stimulus package's impact on the $650 million V&M Star project – made possible through Recovery Act funding – during today's visit to the steel pipe manufacturer.
''The $20 million investment by the Department of Transportation in site work … and doing the groundwork has leveraged $650 million in investment from the private sector to get this exciting plant up and running,'' said Jared Bernstein, chief economist to Vice President Joe Biden.
On Monday, Bernstein, in a conference call with reporters on Obama's visit today, indicated the president will ''connect the dots'' between action being taken on the federal level with stimulus funding and how those dollars are being put to use by business.
