Obama to visit Youngstown area
Toledo Blade – President Obama is to visit a steel plant in the Youngstown area Monday that officials say is getting a $650 million expansion because of assistance from the 2009 stimulus act.
V&M Star Steel, which is owned by a European steel company, announced in February it would expand in Mahoning and Trumbull counties to make steel tubing.
"The expansion of V&M Star Steel shows how the Recovery Act and enforcement of trade laws have helped to create jobs," Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) said.
Mr. Obama is expected to tour V&M Star before speaking to workers this afternoon.
Senator Brown and Gov. Ted Strickland joined a conference call with Jared Bernstein, chief economist to Vice President Joe Biden, and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan (D., Niles) to preview the President's trip.
