Ohio Sen. Brown touts HIRE Act hires, says Buckeye employers could realize $390M in tax credits
Examiner.com – COLUMBUS, Ohio – In an tight election year where each job gained or lost could translate into a vote for or against a politician running to retain a seat or one running to take it away from another, the good news in a report Monday from Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown that 208,000 formerly unemployed Ohioans have a job should come as good news to someone like Gov. Strickland, who has been dogged by a high unemployment rate that shows no signs of coming down enough to assure him a victory in November.
In a media release Brown, who defeated Republican incumbent Mike DeWine in 2006 to move from the U.S. House to the U.S. Senate, reported that, as a result of the HIRE Act he co-sponsored, Ohio employers could realize about $390 million in tax incentives if the job-weary Ohioans they hired stay on the job through the end of the year.
