Ohio senators might split on Kagan
Columbus Dispatch – Ohio's Democratic senator already is considered a likely "yes" vote on Elena Kagan's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, but the Republican voted against her last year.
"Elena Kagan's diverse background has given her a unique understanding of how the law affects everyday Americans," said Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown.
Brown urged Kagan, if confirmed, to vote to overturn the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling allowing corporations and labor unions to spend virtually unlimited amounts of money to support or oppose political candidates.
Kagan would replace a justice, John Paul Stevens, who already dissented against the majority opinion in that case.
