Ohio to get aid for housing

Wapakoneta Daily News – Ohio is expected to receive $172 milliion of $600 million made available in financial aid to assist communities hit hard by the foreclosure crisis and high unemployment.

The Obama administration unveiled the financial aid package Monday to help residents in North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina and Rhode Island. Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio called the announcement “a victory for Ohio communities.”

“Ohio is at the frontline of the foreclosure crisis and should have all the resources necessary to rebuild our communities,” Brown said in a media teleconference and in a news release. “Too many Ohioans are trying to modify their mortgages so they can hold onto their homes, but getting nothing but the run around from their lenders.
