OSU’s medical expansion growing

The Columbus Dispatch — Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee said the expanded project will "improve the lives of countless patients and their families for generations to come."

Sen. Sherrod Brown, who wrote a letter supporting OSU's application, said the project "will bring thousands of new jobs to central Ohio and further cement our state's leadership in providing the highest quality of medical care." To be eligible for the federal money, OSU had to show that its Medical Center is critical to providing greater access to health care in the state.

The grant money also could comprise no more than 40 percent of the total project cost. And the state had to prove it had a plan to cover the remainder of the cost, a key factor for winning the award, Wakefield said.
