Trib Today – HOWLAND – Expansion by a local business through private and public financing shows the importance of legislation to keep creating jobs in the Mahoning Valley and the nation, a senator said Monday.

''This wouldn't have happened without the (Small Business Administration) loan program,'' U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, said of a $500,000 SBA (or 504) loan that helped Berk Enterprises expand into a factory on Thomas Road S.E. in Howland.
