Senator Sherrod Brown offers support in development of Miamisburg Mound facility
Kettering-Oakwood Times – Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown visited the Mound site in Miamisburg Friday, Jan. 15, where he told city officials and other business representatives interested in creating energy jobs that he plans to take back what he learned today to the Department of Energy Secretary in an effort to help make the Mound Advanced Technology Center a leader in clean energy production.
Brown made the statement at a news conference prior to taking a tour of the facility where a section of the 306 acres is in the final stages of a contamination clean-up.
"One piece of legislation I'm working on is a bill that will set up a federal loan fund to help companies switch from auto supply to alternative energy," Brown said. "Why can't the Mound play a role in that when there is so many opportunities."
But Brown said in order to make that happen, he needed input from energy experts and other knowledgeable parties.
"I am looking at the entrepreneurs and all of you who want to figure out how to grow these businesses," Brown said. "I want you to explain to me so I can continue to talk to the Secretary of Energy that we don't pull up stakes in October, but instead put down deeper roots."
