Spangler plans $5M addition at candy plant
Toledo Blade – BRYAN – Spangler Candy Co. plans to spend $5 million to expand production of its classic Dum Dum Pops, Dean Spangler, chairman and chief executive officer, said Tuesday.
The addition was discussed during a visit to the Bryan factory by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio). About $2 million will be spent for a 20,000 to 30,000-square-foot addition onto Spangler Candy's 550,000-square-foot headquarters, Mr. Spangler said. The remaining $3 million will be used to purchase equipment, including Dum Dum-forming machines, bagging equipment, automatic case packers, and pallet systems.
