State can capitalize on skilled labor base
Columbus Dispatch – Strong private-public partnerships can help build capacity, train skilled workers and create jobs. In the Dec. 1 Dispatch article “Bernanke: It’s all about jobs now ,” Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke mentioned that “we’re not growing fast enough to materially reduce the unemployment rate.”
Speed matters. So does strategy. Fortunately, in central Ohio, we’re off to a good start. Last month, I met with more than 250 Ohio aerospace companies at the Airbus Procurement Summit held at Ohio State University. We discussed ways to position Ohio as the national leader in aerospace manufacturing. By building on Ohio’s auto supply chain, we’re attracting 21st century jobs in the high-tech aerospace industry.
