Trade Adjustment Assistance To Benefit Laid Off GM Workers
WMFD – United States Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio Tuesday, announced the U.S. Department of Labor has approved trade adjustment assistance for more than 260 workers who were laid off when the General Motors Mansfield-Ontario Metal Center closed.
It is a federal program that provides aid to workers who lose their jobs or whose work hours and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports.
The program extends benefits, including training for employment in another job or career, income support, job search and relocation allowances. Qualified workers may return to employment through a combination of these services.
