U.S. to give $4.6M for broadband expansion in Darke, Preble counties
Dayton Daily News – WASHINGTON — A western Ohio company will receive $4.6 million in federal economic stimulus funding to expand broadband service into rural areas of Darke and Preble counties, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, said Monday.
Hometown Cable Co. LLC, of Coldwater in Mercer County, will carry out the project to make broadband service available to an estimated 49,000 people, 522 businesses and 206 community institutions, Brown said. The U.S. Department of Agriculture administers the funding.
