Wind turbine plan moves forward
WTAM 1100 – Cleveland – The plan to make Lake Erie the home of the first offshore wind turbines in fresh water are moving ahead…
Governor Ted Strickland, Senator Sherrod Brown, industry and education leaders spoke at the Great Lakes Science Center Monday outlining measures to jump start wind projects.
Brown has introduced the POWERED Act of 2010 to spur research of projects, expand incentives and require the Department Of Energy to develop a roadmap. "We want to see these wind turbines built here and installed in Lake Erie," says Brown.
The turbines are expected to not only reduce dependence on foreign oil but revitalize Ohio’s manufacturing base and create new jobs.
